Resistance, Rebellion and Death

“Yesterday it was love. Today the great passions of unity and liberty disrupt the world. yesterday love led to individual death. Today collective passions make us run the risk of universal destruction. Today, just as yesterday, art wants to save from death a living image of our passions and our sufferings.” ― Albert Camus

"Outdoor Cats" Short Story

hi :) here is another short story that I wrote. very very short. lmk what u think

Outdoor Cats

My cat screamed. Dot was clearly fighting the neighbor's cat. Something that happens often. The noises Dot and the neighbor’s cat make when they fight are disturbing. I can always hear it from inside the house. Even when every single window is closed. The noises they make don’t sound like meows at all. They sound like loud whines and shrieks and growls. It makes me nervous. Maybe because the noises are frightening but I think I just worry about my cat, Dot. The neighbor’s cat was bright white with some gray splotches. Their cat being white made it easy for me to find Dot and where he and the white cat were fighting. I’m not too scared of Dot getting hurt. But I’d just rather not take any chances so I always go out and grab Dot just to try to prevent anything bad from happening.

Dot was still screaming. So was the other cat. It was time for me to go outside and bring Dot in. When I opened the back door everything but the air was quiet. Everything but me was still. I didn’t see Dot or the neighbor's white cat anywhere. It was like as soon as I opened the back door they had stopped fighting. All of a sudden Dot jumped over the fence that bordered my house and the neighbor’s. The white cat jumped over the fence following Dot. I just watched. I watched as Dot tried to run away from the neighbor’s cat. It didn’t take long for the white cat to catch up to Dot. They started to throw themselves at each other. I just watched. My heart froze. I could see blood start to pour out from them but I couldn’t tell which one of them was bleeding. But my body started to run. I rushed over to Dot and the white cat. Hoping to stop them. I stood over them. Clueless. The white cat looked fine. Dot was covered in blood. I started to freak out. I threw my hands in there and pushed Dot out of the way. Then I clenched my teeth. Dot ran off. I closed my eyes. I jumped right onto the neighbor's cat. Stomping him. I opened my eyes. To my side was Dot. Licking his paws. Totally fine. No Blood. Beneath my feet lay the neighbor's cat. The cat who was once bright white with gray splotches had turned into a white cat covered in a deep bloody red. Mutilated. I fell down to the mud. Next to the cats.
